Every year about 1.5 lakh babies are born in India with congenital heart disease. It’s a condition in which a baby is born with a malfunctioning heart. Despite being detectable, 80 thousand babies don’t make it beyond infancy. Infants born with congenital heart disease in India die every year due to lack of awareness, inadequate health care facilities in the country and lack of Funds. This high infant mortality rate is directly related to the huge cost of hospitalisation and surgery to correct congenital heart defects. It forces a parent to make a tough choice; to accept things as they come, and expect the worse, anytime… any day… any moment.

Little heart is an initiative especially for those who cannot afford the treatment and than they are never cured which later creates major complications of the heart. Thanks to advances in pediatric heart surgery and interventional catheterization, nearly every form of congenital heart disease can be treated with the expectation of a good outcome.
