CARING CRISIS SETS IN; VACCINE, A DECISIVE TURNING POINT

Corona virus disease, an unsaid dimension of a humanitarian crisis globally – is trending as statistical phenomena and now, a new strain of virus has emerged creating chaos. In fact, people and governments the world over are caught unprepared. New unsought and unimaginable realities are coming into focus. The good news is, now the scientific research institutes facing covid challenges have developed ‘Covaxin and Covishield’ vaccines to fight against the pandemic.

On one hand, pandemic spread restricted people’s activity. Stay safe, stay at home, maintain social distancing – is the new norm. Using masks, gloves, sanitizers, cleaning of devices and washing hands is essential in home or offices; for online deliveries or travel; for entrances to expos or medical facilities. I am taking precise care of staff safety and hygiene in our publishing house. It was worthwhile: than exposing employees to corona risk. As you may know, we were with you all the while engaging with our social media, posting latest news, attending webinars.

On the other hand, encouraging self reliance for manufacturing amid Covid times is a welcome step. The country is now producing PPE kits, N95 masks, and ventilators etc., domestically. The increase in production capacity of medical equipment and such world class items echoes in call ‘vocal for local’. From merely one lab, today we have more than 1400 labs across the country. And recently, upon DCGI approval of aforementioned vaccines, PM Nrendra Modi highlighted the spirit of scientific community in India to fulfill the dream of an ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ and congratulated the scientists & innovators for indigenously developed vaccine that turns out to be decisive turning point in medical research field.

Moreover, pandemic impacted medical supplies and devices shortages, as manufacturing had been rampantly stopped. Now, it’s making in-roads into digital technology and automation opportunity as part of self-reliant campaign to develop domestic market of medical equipment. Things are taking shape to grow into new normal attitudes. Our medical specialists and doctors – addressed as healthcare workers are doing immensely good in dealing with patients and society, risking their own life to attend medical urgencies.

Kudos to our medical fraternity and all social workers!
